What Jay does, and how he got here.

Jay has been writing software since high school in 2004 starting on a gaming community website with an international audience of gamers. He has spent most of the time since as a founder and engineer. Recent projects include a sequence of full-stack work at scale: a peer-to-peer marketplace serving millions of users, a consumer web app capturing millions of user events, an ecommerce marketplace with 20,000+ products, and an AI-powered mobile app for improving health outcomes. Across all of it, the pattern repeated — a senior engineer who held the system in their head would have shipped it in a fraction of the time. TrendsMT was founded in 2015 to do that work without the layered hand-offs. One senior engineer, end to end.

The reps that compound the firm sit in three areas. Applied AI: retrieval-augmented chatbots, LLM gateways with prompt caching and abuse controls, image-recognition pipelines, NLP for sentiment, and the plumbing around all of them. Marketplaces and fintech: peer-to-peer commerce, payment rails, double-entry ledgers, blockchain and crypto payment systems, algorithmic trading and analytics. End-to-end product engineering: cross-platform React Native apps with sync and OTA updates, multi-tenant SaaS with auth, billing, and the admin panel underneath. Inside TrendsMT, Jay personally leads scoping, architecture, and the first weeks of every build.

The work that lasts is built by engineers who can hold the whole system in their head and write down what they decide. Most software isn't built that way. Proven technology — Postgres, Next.js, the smallest viable cloud bill — does more work than novelty does. AI features that survive contact with a real workflow look unglamorous from the outside, and that is the point. The engagements TrendsMT refuses — body-shop staffing, AI built to demo, rewrites for fashion — we refuse on principle.

Jay is based in California. Two decades of shipping software have spanned fintech, healthtech, marketplaces, ecommerce, blockchain, ad-tech, and consumer SaaS, written in whatever language the system called for. Range is the qualification.
